Study abroad intakes

What are the different intakes while applying to study abroad and which is the best intake?

Unlike a single intake in Indian universities, colleges and universities in other countries offer Multiple intakes.

Intakes may also be referred to as terms in some institutions.

The  major intakes available  are

Term 1: Fall

Term 2: Spring

Term 3: Summer

Other Intakes: Rolling intakes

Which Intake to opt for?

This is one question that confuses a lot of Indian students since we are not used to multiple intakes for a course or university. However, to make a well-informed decision lets get into details of these intakes and factors that should affect your choice while deciding the intake.

The universities may or may not offer the course in multiple intakes although it may have the second intake open for the courses. Hence the availability of your preferred course should ideally be the priority

Secondly, for the intakes that are offered by the university, you will need to start with the documentation and application procedure well in advance. In case you are late or expect your academic results to be available later, you may change the intake accordingly.

Thirdly, some universities have different intake capacity for different terms so a bigger intake capacity will increase your chances of acceptance than a smaller intake would.

Some universities also offer to defer the intake after accepting the offer. Although this is conditional and not guaranteed.

To know more about the when to start with applications and documentation for different intakes, check our application timeline as per intake guide here.
