The Australian Government provides an opportunity for all Indian students to study in the country full-time however, you’ll first have to obtain an Australia student visa. The visa you need will depend on your age, the type of study you want to pursue, and how long you want to stay in Australia. As an international student looking to study in Australia, you would most commonly require a student (subclass 500) visa, regardless of your field of study.
A student subclass 500 visa lets you stay in Australia for the duration of your study program, which is mostly up to five years. After this duration, in case the students need to continue education will need to obtain a new visa. If your student visa will expire before your graduation you might be eligible for a Visitor visa (subclass 600). You will need a letter from your education provider with the date of your graduation. When applying for your student visa for Australia, you will generally need:
Proof of enrolment (your electronic confirmation of enrolment)
A valid passport’s first and last page
Your visa application fee
Evidence to show that you meet the Genuine Temporary Entrant requirement for a student visa. This must include a statement in your application form that you intend to stay in Australia temporarily and/or documentation to support claims. The statement must be written by the applicant even if using an agent.
All-Academic documents
Evidence of your English proficiency skills
Evidence of financial ability (tuition fees, living expenses, expenses for dependents, return airfare)
Evidence of adequate health insurance. Health insurance must be Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
Statement of purpose
Parental Consent form
Employment History
Passport-sized photographs

You will need to create an account using DIBP’s online application system – ImmiAccount to complete and submit your student visa application. You can also track the status of your visa through ImmiAccount. You should submit your application no later than six weeks before your course starts, and no earlier than 12 weeks.

As an applicant from outside Australia, you will have to pay AUD 620 as your visa fee unless you are exempt from it. You may also have to pay additionally a separate cost for police certificates and biometrics. (do check the latest fee

To gain your Australia student visa, you’ll have to provide evidence of proficiency in the English language. This means passing an English language test to be able to prove your communication and correspondence skills.
Depending on the course, duration, and university, the English language cut off marks will be decided.

Once you get your visa, there are a number of things you need to do to ensure it remains valid, including:
You and your family must meet all visa conditions and follow Australian laws
Remain enrolled and maintain satisfactory course progress and attendance
Provide your Australian address to your university or college so they can contact you
Continue to be able to financially support yourself while in Australia
Don’t breach the working conditions that apply to your visa
If you want to change your qualification level you will need to apply for a new student visa.
